Five Points is Healing: Bars After Covid

COLUMBIA, S.C. – In the spring of 2022, the bar industry continued to grapple with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. With fewer people going out, bar owners faced financial strain, leading to a drastic reduction in staff. Nights that once thrived now saw only one or two employees working compared to the usual six to ten. Despite the challenges, bartenders remained resilient, dedicated to serving patrons and keeping the spirit of their establishments alive.

As restrictions related to the pandemic gradually eased, Five Points in Columbia, SC, began to experience a resurgence in bar attendance. This revival is slowly restoring the area’s once-vibrant nightlife, bringing Five Points back to its former glory, one night at a time.

Jordan Del Priore

My name is Jordan Del Priore, and I am a senior visual communications major graduating next month. My passion for photography began in the spring of 2015 when I started using my dad’s Canon 70D to capture images of cars. I now work with a Canon 6D, equipped with a Canon 24-105mm f/4 and a Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 lens, and edit my photos using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. While automotive photography remains my primary interest, I am also exploring portrait photography, photojournalism, and enhancing my skills in astrophotography.
